Reflecting on a Tremendous Year and Honoring Excellence

As the 2020-2021 school year comes to a close, I took time to reflect on the challenges, accomplishments, and moments of excellence that defined this extraordinary year. From navigating the complexities of COVID-19 to celebrating the achievements of its graduating seniors, the district showcased resilience, dedication, and a commitment to excellence.

A Year Defined by Tremendous Effort

In her closing remarks, the district leadership expressed heartfelt gratitude to all staff members across departments, including central office personnel, facilities, transportation, food service, building administrators, and educators.

The word “tremendous” was highlighted as embodying two fitting definitions:

1. Great in Amount, Scale, or Intensity:

The collective effort and dedication of the district’s staff under immense challenges were monumental.

2. Extremely Good or Impressive:

Despite the hurdles, the district accomplished excellent and impactful work throughout the year.

Looking ahead, the hope is to maintain this level of excellence as the district prepares for the 2021-2022 school year. Dover families deserve nothing less.

Honoring the Class of 2021

The district celebrated its graduating seniors with a special Honors Night event held in front of Dover High School. The evening recognized the hard work and achievements of 74 graduating seniors, with highlights including:

58 seniors receiving scholarships.

28 seniors earning the New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy.

Over $74,000 in scholarships awarded by generous donors.

Special thanks were extended to the Dover High School administration, guidance department, and staff for organizing this memorable event. Key contributors included:

• Administrators: Mr. Saulnier, Ms. Spencer, Mr. Franks, Mr. Pugliones, Ms. Gillen, and Ms. Martinez.

• Event Staff: Ms. Hernandez, Ms. Frye, Mr. Irizarry, Ms. Badres, and Ms. Tucci.

Additionally, the evening featured a unique artistic touch with stunning charcoal portraits of the valedictorian and salutatorian created by artist Omar Davis. These portraits beautifully commemorated the students’ accomplishments and added a special touch to the celebration.

Looking Forward

As the district reflects on a year of challenges and triumphs, it also sets its sights on the upcoming school year with the same commitment to excellence. The achievements of the Class of 2021 and the collective effort of staff, families, and the community are a testament to Dover’s resilience and dedication.

Congratulations to the graduating Tigers, and here’s to continued success in the 2021-2022 school year!
